Founding Story | While Baqend’s main business revolves around website acceleration via Speed Kit, it originally evolved from a research project on how to exploit traditional Web caching infrastructure to accelerate database technology. The original idea had been formulated and refined in the bachelor’s and master’s theses of two of the founders (Felix & Florian) at the University of Hamburg in 2010 and 2012, respectively, before Baqend was founded as a Backend-as-a-Service company in 2014.
